BO VAN MELSKENS is Sarah Elbo's new fashion label. The Danish designer has chosen Berlin as her permanent base, and it was in this creative environment that she launched her first internationally-acclaimed label, SARAH HEARTBO.
Sarah Elbo is a pioneer of storytelling design, and with BO VAN MELSKENS she takes the design philosophy she has made her trademark a step further. The women's collection is based on a specific story whose central character BO, a feminine dandy, serves as Elbo's muse and inspiration for the label's clothes, stories and music. A leitmotif running through the collection is a quirky elegance that plays with contradictions.
Rather than pandering to a mentality of instant consumerism, BO VAN MELSKENS creates a world of its own with luxury clothes for the self-assured woman. Feminine dresses are the key item at the heart of the collection and the main focus of the brand. Unfussy designs, first-rate workmanship and exclusive fabrics accentuate the label's confident and unconventional attitude.
BO VAN MELSKENS will celebrate its world premiere with the launch of its A/W 09 collection "when I close my eyes…" at the Copenhagen Fashion Week in February 2008. So far the fashion label has primarily been marketed in Europe, and in the future the brand hopes to reach beyond its key markets in Scandinavia and Germany and focus more on other European countries such as the UK and France.
