Day Birger et Mikkelsen
Words by Didder Rønlund
Trendspotters have gazed in vain for Kjeld Mikkelsen and his Day brand for a couple of seasons. This season, he was back among the Danish fashion heavyweights at City Hall with a magnificent show.
Peter Ingwersen starring as creative director and set up by Thomas Hargreave.
The show was such a round of high street that the fashionistas lapped it all up as whipped cream. It was architecturally beautiful and bright with a twist, which made the guests, who sat or stood
like sardines in a tin, rejoice. Peter's fashion fascination shone at every entry. Most beautiful in the black / white tuxedo message of the opening, with a bow around the belly. I have not seen a
bigger, more flirtatious bow, since Erik Mortensen assumed Pierre Balmain's French haute couture.
We got catwalk at full throttle. Experienced the hottest materials make all the difference between store and de luxe. We loved the gypsy inspiration and leather contrasts, and Ingwersen's detailing
in the midst of all the black, white and red, which made up the common denominator for this clothing parade. Almost impossible to wait an entire spring and summer!
