Cecilia Hellner started Black Dakini Jewels in the beginning of 2009 – after many trips to Nepal to the Tibetan community. Her own connection to the eastern philosophy with its compassion inspired Cecilia to make jewellery based on the Tibetan rosary (malas).
Black Dakini means Sky Walker and is the Tibetan Goddess Tröma Nagmo. Her description is the female embodiment of enlightened energy.
It is with Cecilia intention that with the history and energy behind the jewels of Black Dakini, that it will send positive energies to the person who wears them and therefore into our world. To make an old spiritual "tool" into a something everybody can wear and receive the benefit from.
The inspiration to Black Dakini comes from Tibetan prayer beads. The Prayer beads are a key tool in the Buddhist practice and are used for keeping count and focus while reciting mantras. They are also representing the 108 form of the Bodhisattva, Avalokitesvara, who is the infinite of compassion and is considered the guardian against all dangers. A string of prayer beads, called a mala, consist of 108 pearls or a number that 108 are divisible by.

The special Tibetan “skull” prayer beads are brought back from Tibet and are made from the bone of the Tibetan Jak ox. These special malas are used by high-ranking lamas and monks as protection against negative energies. The eastern symbols used in the jewels are handmade by local silversmiths in Kathmandu.
