After her AW17 show debut at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the Danish designer and DANSK Design Talent - Magasin Prisen winner Cecilie Bahnsen received praise from international media such as Vogue and Business of Fashion. Less than a month later by the end of February, it was announced that Cecilie Bahnsen had been shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH prize as one of the 21 young fashion designers with a chance to win €300,000 and a year-long mentorship.
Bahnsen is the only Danish designer among the nominees. The shortlisted designers will present their collection to a panel of 45 experts including press, buyers, fashion creatives and influencers. The winner will be picked among the finalists by a jury of LVMH's creative directors, among them Dior's Maria Grazia Chiuri, Céline's Phoebe Philo, Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and Loewe's Jonathan W. Anderson.
In a comment to Fashion Forum, Bahnsen emphasises the opportunity to increase the visibility of her brand internationally:
"Of course I hope we will move on to the next stage, but it also means a lot to me to be able to get a lot of input, contacts and inspiration. A lot of very interesting people will come by and I look very much forward to talking with them about my design and learn from them. That is probably my biggest hope."
